The ingredients needed to make Shahi paneer:
  1. Make ready 2 tbsp butter
  2. Prepare 3-4 cardamom
  3. Take 3-4 cloves
  4. Get 1 inch dalchini/cinnemom stick

  7. Prepare 6-8 cashew nuts

  17. Make ready 150 gm paneer cuts in cubes
  18. Get as needed Water
  19. Make ready 1 tsp Coriander leaves for garnishing

Similar to the other mughlai foods, this shahi paneer is prepared with nuts, onions, spices & yogurt or cream. Paneer is derived from the Persian word for cheese, and shahi is the term for royal (in reference to the Imperial Court of the Mughal Empire). Similar dishes include paneer butter masala and kadai paneer. The original shahi paneer is from Mughalai cuisine.

Steps to make Shahi paneer:
  1. Heat pan add butter cardamom, cloves, daalchini saute it for few seconds than add onion saute till soft add tamatoes saute till soft add salt, melon seeds, cashew nuts and water.. Let it cook for 5-7 minutes than switch off the flame and let it cool completely.. Put them in a mixer grinder and make a smooth paste
  2. Heat butter in an pan add cumin seeds, bay leave, red chilli powder, turmeric powder saute it for 2-4 seconds add the paste we have prepared.. cook it nicely add cream and mix nicely..
  3. Once the mixture turns smooth and silky add paneer cubes mix them let it cook for 4-5 more minutes..
  4. Add coriander leaves and cream for garnishing..
  5. Sahi paneer is ready to eat.. Serve with naan or chapati..

It has a white gravy made from onion and yogurt. Full of nuts saffron and aromatic spices. Very few spice powders are used in the gravy hence it has mild yet tasty flavors. I have shared the Mughlai paneer recipe. This recipe is the Punjabi version of shahi paneer.
