This halwa is one of my all time favourite. But we dont make this often, because we dont have jackfruit tree in our home. But my aunt has that in her house, so whenever there is a ripe fruit in that tree, she sents half of that large. Chakka Varattiyathu with Step by step photos.

Instructions to make Jackfruit (Chakka) Halwa(Varattiyathu):
  1. Add jackfruit,1 cup of water in a pressure cooker. Cover and pressure cook for 3 whistles, Turn off the heat
  2. Now transfer this mix to a pan.
  3. Add jaggery and 1/2 cup of water in a pan, heat so the jaggery is melted. add to the jackfruit pan.
  4. Now heat on high flame and let the mixture gets thick. keep stiring, it will get dark in colour and very thick.
  5. Add ghee and watermelon seeds at this point and keep mixing them, At this stage it will leave the sides of the pan like a halwa.
  6. Turn off the heat and let it cool and set in a greased tray and kept aside for 30 mins then cut into smaller pieces and place them in a plating tray and garnished it with some watermelon seeds and serve.

I have to admit my family's love for jackfruit. Every time we have the fruit in home before I get to make some recipes the fruit disappears. Believe it or not this is the fruit recipe I am posting with jackfruit.
